Simiani: “Geothermal areas, mainly marginal and mountainous, are penalized by the new executive despite producing a clean and renewable source”

The amendment proposed by the Tuscan deputies of the Democratic Party that asked for a “50% discount for the bills of households and businesses of geothermal municipalities” was rejected, where so much electricity is produced that it can meet more than 30% of the Tuscan electricity needs.

“Majority and right-wing government deny aid in the bill to geothermal municipalities, the amendment of the Democratic Party that provided for the discount of 50 percent for families and businesses was rejected”, declares the DEPUTY Marco Simiani, first signatory of the amendment proposal to the Aid decree ter rejected by the competent Committee of Montecitorio.

“The geothermal areas, mainly marginal and mountainous, are therefore penalized by the new executive, despite producing a clean and renewable source to vast contiguous user basins. Unfortunately, even the center-right deputies of the municipalities concerned, such as Ziello and Michelotti for the provinces of Siena and Pisa, did not support this proposal despite our solicitations. However, we will re-propose the amendment in the next steps hoping for greater sensitivity also from the representatives of the majority”.
